 LeTrone Mason
Chicago native LeTrone Mason enters his first season as the head coach of the Chicago State men’s and women’s tennis teams. He was hired as coach in August 2008. Mason comes to CSU after spending nearly four seasons as a tennis professional at the Tennis Center of Coral Springs in Coral Springs, Fla.

In addition to his tenure in Coral Springs, Mason also served for three seasons as the head coach for the Broward College women’s tennis team in Davie, Fla., where he guided the Seahawks to the 2006 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I and Florida Community Colleges Activities Association (FCCAA) championships. Mason earned “Coach of the Tournament” accolades after winning the national championship and FCCAA Coach of the Year honors after Broward claimed its sixth straight state title. He also led Broward to a FCCAA state title and a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division I Tournament in 2005.
Prior to his stint at Broward, Mason spent six seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s tennis team at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla. He helped the Rattlers gain national recognition during the 1999-2000 season as they were ranked 52nd in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), captured the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship and competed in the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
Mason became a certified tennis professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association in 2000. He was a four-year letterwinner at FAMU and served as team captain for three years. He earned the team’s Freshman of the Year award in addition to capturing two MEAC singles and doubles titles.
Mason graduated from FAMU in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He currently resides in Chicago with his wife and daughter, Azjhani (3).
