Coach Baum's Goucher tennis teams are known for their team focus, competitiveness and sportsmanship. Collegiate women's tennis has been a part of Goucher sports since 1978 and has always been one of the more consistent winners within the athletic program. A number of her former tennis players have gone on to coach the sport at the high school and collegiate levels.
Baum attended Slippery Rock University, earning a B.S. degree in physical education and health and a masters degree in education. As an undergraduate she as a superior athlete in 3 sports for the Rockets and was inducted into the SRU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992. In addition to coaching tennis, Baumn serves as the Senior Women's Administrator and Recreation/Intramural sports director for the Athletic Department. She teaches a required course called Wellness and oversees a number of the institution's special poroects including the Outdoor Equipment Center, the Kids' Night out Program and the Renie Amoss Memorial Race.
A sought-after speaker on the topics of wellness and humor in the workplace, Baum conducts workshops for a number of local organizations and has been recognized as a Health Educator of the Year by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She lives in Fallston Maryland with her husband Mke and their four sons.
