David Boteler begins his 15th year of coaching collegiate tennis in 2001 and looks to help guide the Mississippi College Choctaws and Lady Choctaws to consecutive American Southwest Conference titles. Last season, under the direction of Boteler, the MC tennis program won its first men's and women's league championships in school history.

A United States Tennis Registry Professional since 1987, Boteler has earned the highest USTPR rating possible. He has guided the MC men's and women's teams to regional rankings the last three seasons. The Men's program finished No. 9 in the South Region in 1999, and the women were a No. 12 preseason selection in 2000.

Boteler has coached 13 All-Americans, and led Belhaven College to a No. 5 national NAIA finish in 1991. He has been named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year on three occasions and was the women's basketball coach of the year once. Additionally, he has been named ASC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons.

A Jackson native, Boteler graduated from Belhaven College, where he was an All-Southern States baseball player, and was named Outstanding Business Senior for his work in the classroom. Boteler resides in Madison with his wife, Kathy, and son, Brad. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Madison, where he teaches Sunday school and is a former deacon.

"I have really been blessed with some outstanding young student athletes over my career," Boteler said. "They have made my job successful. I am extremely proud of what they have accomplished after graduation too."
