Denise Albrecht, a native of Great Falls, begins her ninth season at Montana State University as head women's tennis coach. She has been associated with the game for over thirty years. The Albrecht family has been instrumental in the development of tennis throughout the state.  In 2002 the Albrecht family won the Intermountain Tennis Family of the Year.  Montana's largest junior tournament, the Kristin Albrecht Memorial, is named in her sister's honor.

Coming up in the junior ranks, Albrecht was the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Montana for over a decade. She was the 1978 state champion at Great Falls High. As a top collegiate player, she helped lead the University of Utah to the 1982 Western Athletic Conference title with a win over perennial WAC power, Brigham Young.

Tennis has always been my first love and I'm excited to be coaching at Montana State, Albrecht said. The MSU program has consistently been one of the top programs in the Big Sky Conference and they have had a history of recruiting good athletes and great students. The Bozeman community is also very generous and have been supportive of the program.

Most recently, Albrecht has worked at Prevent Child Abuse in Bozeman, and has served as a teaching professional at the prestigious T-Bar-M Tennis Club in Dallas, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree in education from the University of Utah in 1985 and her master's in social work from Catholic University in 1992 followed by getting her LCSW (licensed clinical social work) certification.   Following graduation from Catholic University, Albrecht served at St. Elizabeth's in Washington D.C., and was with the child adolescence psych unit therapist in Great Falls doing individual therapy as well as group psychotherapy.
