Ron Bohrnstedt is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the men's tennis program at Rollins.  In his short time with the Tars, he has kept the program in the elite ranks of NCAA Division II tennis. 

Bohrnstedt's 2003-2004 team had one of the most successful seasons in the history of the program at Rollins.  The Tars won the Sunshine State Conference that season and advanced all the way to the semi-finals of the NCAA tournament.  The team finished ranked fourth in the nation with a 24-5 record. Last year, the Tars struggled to a 10-12 record and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 39 years. 

In Bohrnstedt's debut season at the helm the Tars went 13-9 and made it to the NCAA Championships where they lost to powerhouse West Florida. Rollins finished the 2002-03 season with a national ranking of 15th.

A native of Redlands, California and a graduate of UCLA, Bohrnstedt was a three year letterman for the Bruins and was a member of two conference championships and three straight NCAA Division I runner-up finishes. He competed as a professional tennis player from 1970-75 and was ranked by the USTA in men's singles for three years. His biggest professional victory was over Jimmy Connors at the Palm Springs (CA) Invitational.

After his playing career, he served as Director of Tennis at Sawgrass Tennis Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida for three years. Bohrnstedt then spent 24 years as the Director of Tennis at The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia before moving to Florida in 1999. During his tenure at Greenbrier, he helped the five-star, five-diamond property earn recognition as a U.S. Top Ten Tennis Resort by Tennis Magazine. His staff was also rated as a U.S. Top Five Resort Instructional Staff by Tennis Magazine.

An active volunteer with the USTA for 23 years, Bohrnstedt was elected for two terms as a member of the USTA Board of Directors, concluding in December of 2002. He is Past President of the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section and spent six years as Vice Chairman of the Davis Cup Committee.

Bohrnstedt and his wife, Cheri, are the parents of three children and currently reside in Winter Park. Two of his children, Ry and Alexis, attended Rollins. Ry was a two-year member of the Rollins tennis team.
