BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Charleston Southern women’s tennis team pushed its win streak to five-straight matches as the Buccaneers defeated Gardner-Webb University 5-2 Saturday afternoon.

CSU (5-0, 3-0 Big South) won all three doubles matches in convincing fashion to earn the doubles point, and the Bucs took 4-of-6 singles matches to remain undefeated this season. GWU (5-3, 0-1 Big South) saw its recent two-match win streak snapped at the hands of the Buccaneers.

The team of Angie Torres/Andrea Schutte defeated Kasey Ellis/Erica White 8-2 from the No. 1 doubles flight. Marija Dzakovic/Olga Makhova and Susita Das/Brooke Pletcher both posted 8-1 victories in their doubles matches. They defeated Rita Gouveia/Ioana Oprea and Tavenner Black/Ronia Hutterli, respectively.

Makhova defeated White 6-2, 7-5 from No. 1 singles. Schutte took down Gouveia 6-0, 6-3 from the third slot and Pletcher handled Ellis 6-2, 6-0 from the fourth position. Torres rounded out the singles wins for CSU by defeating Tavenner 6-2, 6-4 from the No. 6 flight.

Dzakovic fell 6-2, 6-3 against Oprea from No. 2 singles, and Das retired in the first set against Hutterli to give the Lady Bulldogs their only two points of the match.
