Emilie Sechaud
The Adrian College athletic administration has announced the hiring of Emilie Sechaud as the new men's and women's head tennis coach. Sechaud will inherit a pair of programs that have benefitted greatly from the addition of the Craft Tennis Complex which opened last spring to rave results from the tennis community.
"Emilie has had a great career on the courts and brings a competitive fire to Adrian College," said athletic director Mike Duffy. "I was impressed right away with her enthusiasm and willingness to sacrifice to make our tennis programs the best they can be. She is excited to get started and I cannot wait to see what is in store for Adrian College tennis."
Sechaud was a four-year letterwinner at Illinois State University in Bloomington, Illinois from 2002-06. She was named Freshman of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference and captured the conference's individual title at the third flight of singles.
A year later, she claimed another individual Valley title at the fifth flight of singles and also won a doubles title at the third flight with Elizabeth Bingier. The final two years at Illinois State were also spectacular as she won two more singles title and two more doubles crowns for the Redbirds.
On a professional level she has worked for the past seven summers as a tennis instructor in her hometown of Geneva, Switzerland. Sechaud worked at the Tennis Club de Collonge-Bellerive and supervised various youth groups between the ages of 5-16. In addition, Sechaud developed recreational and physical programs for the members of the club.
Sechaud received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Illinois State. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Economics in May 2006 and just completed her master of science degree in Recreation Administration.
