The Albion College women's tennis team enjoyed playing on the outdoor courts at the Dow Center on Thursday as it defeated Tri-State University, 9-0, in a tidy two-hour match. The Britons won all six singles matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 victories for
Shelley Zamler (Beverly Hills/Groves) and
Lisa Wohlford (Cadillac/Cadillac).
Zamler, who boasts a 12-4 record at the top of the Britons' singles lineup, is 7-0 in MIAA dual matches.
Vic Seiter (Grosse Pointe Farms/Grosse Pointe South) improved to 6-0 in MIAA dual matches with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the third flight. Mara Rendina (Monroe/St. Mary's Catholic Central) posted an impressive 6-0, 6-1 victory in the fourth flight.
Michelle Mulder (East Grand Rapids/East Grand Rapids) won her second singles match by scores of 6-3 and 6-3, and Anna Gundersen (Whitehall/Whitehall) pocketed a 6-0, 6-3 win in the fifth flight.
With the victory, Albion, raked 14th in the Central Region, set up a showdown for first place in the MIAA with Calvin College. The match will be played in Grand Rapids next Monday.
