The Allegheny women’s tennis team fell to the Division II program of Slippery Rock, 7-2, Tuesday night at the Robertson Complex.

Elyse Schmitt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) was the only singles winner for the Gators. She defeated The Rock’s Chelsea Gibson, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 4 singles. Schmitt, a freshman, is now 6-0 in individual play.

Allegheny’s doubles team of Jackie Conrad (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Margaret Hodgkiss-Lilly (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) also maintained its unblemished record, winning at third doubles over Gibson and Lara Rizzi, 9-8 (7-4).

The Gator women will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when they and the Gator men host Grove City’s squads. Action begins at 5 p.m.
