WACO, Texas - After finishing the 2013 season ranked No. 12, the Baylor men's tennis team has qualified to serve as a host site for the 2014 ITA Kick-Off Weekend, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Thursday.
Three visiting schools will travel to Waco on January 24-26, 2014, for a four-team tournament with the host school facing the No. 4 seed and the No. 2 seed playing the No. 3 seed. The winners will come back the following day to play for a berth at the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship.
Baylor last hosted the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event in 2012.
The indoor team championship will be held Feb. 14-17, 2014, in Houston, Texas.
BU will have to wait a week to learn the three other teams coming to Waco. The 45 non-hosting schools in the event select their destination in a draft with the higher ranked teams picking locations first. The draft starts at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 6.
The other 14 host sites are: Virginia, UCLA, Georgia, Ohio State, USC, Tennessee, Duke, Pepperdine, Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Florida.
