Baylor Returns Home To Host No. 47 Virginia
WACO, Texas - The 29th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will play its final match prior to starting conference action by hosting No. 47 Virginia on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Overall, the Lady Bears are 4-10 on the season, but 4-1 in home matches. BU will be looking to snap a five-match losing streak. Each of those losses has come against teams ranked inside the ITA top-25.
In its last match out, Baylor lost 5-2 at No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday. In that contest, BU got wins from No. 12 Ema Burgic at the top of the lineup and Alex Leatu at the bottom of the order. Along with Burgic, No. 113 Megan Horter gives the Lady Bears two ranked singles players. Burgic teams with Kisialeva to form the country's 23rd-ranked doubles tandem. The duo is 7-1 in dual-match play.
Virginia is 3-4 on the year and is coming off a 7-0 win at Maryland. The Cavaliers are led by No. 10 Julia Elbaba and 61st-ranked Stephanie Nauta.
Baylor is 2-1 all-time vs. Virginia. Last season, the Lady Bears recorded a 4-2 over the ninth-ranked Cavaliers at the ITA National Indoor Championships on Feb. 12.
