SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Boise State’s Thomas Tenreiro fell Sunday morning in his semifinal match at the Battle in the Bay Classic at San Francisco’s California Tennis Club. The sophomore played well this weekend reaching the semifinals of this prestigious tournament but could not get past the No. 1 seed Cal’s Campbell Johnson, ranked 41st nationally, who defeated Tenreiro 6-4, 6-1 this morning to eliminate the Bronco.
Tenreiro is ranked 123rd nationally and was the No. 8 seed into the Battle in the Bay Classic. He was the last Bronco standing this weekend going 3-1 in singles competition to improve his fall record to 3-3 overall. The native of Miami, Fla., and his Boise State teammates will now turn their focus towards this week’s USTA/ITA Men’s Tennis Mountain Regional Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., with a bid to the ITA National Indoor Championships in November on the line.
