WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK 

• The 65th-ranked Broncos return to the road this week heading for the San Diego, Calif., metro area for two events. The first is the 126th annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championship at La Jolla, Calif., Thursday through Sunday (March 5-8).
• The second is a Mountain West Conference encounter at No. 60 San Diego State on Sunday (March 8).
• Boise State has entered only its No. 1 doubles team of Toby Mitchell and Garrett Patton in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship. The tandem along with coach Greg Patton left Wednesday for the event.
• The rest of the team will leave for San Diego on Friday in preparation for the San Diego State match Sunday.

ABOUT THE PACIFIC COAST DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP 

• The tournament is the second oldest tennis event in the United States. It annually features top collegiate tennis players from across the country as well as a strong field of independent competitors, which includes teaching professionals, top junior players, college coaches and former tour players.

 
LAST WEEK 

• After six weeks on the road, the Boise State men's tennis team played at home for the first time this season going 2-1 last weekend.
• Boise State opened the home schedule by defeating regional rival No. 63 Utah 5-2 Friday (Feb. 27).
• The Broncos then fell to No. 44 Penn 4-3 in a heart-breaker Saturday (Feb. 28) morning on the last singles contest of the match in a third set tiebreaker that went to 14-12.
• Boise State then regrouped Saturday night to roll BYU 4-1 to close the weekend.
• Abe Hewko was the only Bronco to win all three singles matches in addition to going 2-1 in doubles.
• The doubles team of Thomas Tenreiro and Lewis Roskilly swept all three matches, while Tenreiro went 2-1 in singles.

BRONCO LINEUP 

• Representing the Broncos at the tournament are: Brian Foley (11-13 singles, 11-12 doubles), Abe Hewko (11-9 singles, 10-10 doubles), Toby Mitchell (10-10 singles, 11-8 doubles), Danny Moyer (3-6 singles, 1-4 doubles), Garrett Patton (10-8 singles, 11-9 doubles), Lewis Roskilly (8-10 singles, 15-3 doubles) and Thomas Tenreiro (8-12 singles, 10-4 doubles).

• Next week returns home for an encounter with No. 56 Oregon at 1 p.m. on Sunday (March 15) at the Appleton Tennis Center (weather permitting). 

 ITA NATIONAL RANKINGS 

• Boise State moved up seven spots in the latest ITA National rankings from No. 72 to No. 65 after last week's 2-1 record. The Broncos opened the season ranked 33rd. 

• As usual Boise State has not shied away from a tough schedule in 2015 which features 28 matches. 
• Of the 28 matches, 16 will be against teams currently ranked in this week's ITA Top-75: No. 17 South Florida, No. 18 Harvard, No. 21 Northwestern, No. 30 Texas Tech, No. 35 Auburn, No. 38 Stanford, No. 39 Penn, No. 43 Pepperdine (twice), No. 45 New Mexico, No. 56 Oregon, No. 60 San Diego State, No. 61 Cal Poly, No. 71 Utah State, No. 72 UC Irvine. 
• Boise State is one of three Mountain West members currently ranked in New Mexico and San Diego State, while Nevada, Utah State and UNLV have all been ranked at some point this year. 
• In all, Boise State will face 19 teams who have been ranked this season. 
• The Broncos are currently 2-7 versus teams who were nationally ranked at the time of the match this season.

• The Broncos are currently 5-8 overall entering the weekend.
• The Broncos went 28-5 overall and finished the 2014 spring duals season ranked 29th.
• Boise State at home: The Broncos are 2-1 at home in 2015.
• The Blue and Orange went 14-1 at home last season competing at both the Boas Indoor Tennis Center and the Appleton Outdoor Tennis Center.
• So far this season the Broncos are 3-7 on the road.
• Boise State went 14-4 on the road in 2014.
• Greg Patton is in his 19th season as head coach at Boise State where he is 413-158 overall in team duals, his career mark is 764-351 in 35 years.

 
DEFENDING MW CHAMPIONS 

• League Champions: Boise State is the three-time defending Mountain West Tournament champion and is undefeated in the event since joining the league for the 2011-12 season.
• NCAA Tournament Participant: Boise State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 for the 17th time in school history and the ninth time in the last nine years.

• Boise State has four players regionally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Regional rankings come out once in the spring semester just before the season starts, they are based on fall results.
• Singles: Senior Garrett Patton begins the 2015 dual season ranked ninth in the ITA Mountain Region, while junior Thomas Tenreiro is 10th.
• Doubles: In doubles the team of junior Brian Foley and junior Toby Mitchell enter the spring ranked ninth in the region.
