LAS VEGAS, Nev. (10/31/2015) – Boise State freshman Tillman Haynes continued his debut weekend with a pair of wins, one each in singles and doubles, to lead the men’s tennis team at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic at Las Vegas on Saturday.
Haynes opened the day teaming with Abe Hewko in doubles to defeat UNLV’s pair of Alexander Cozbinov and Rhett Boss in a battle that went to a tiebreaker to settle before the Broncos won 8-7 (5).
Then in singles both Haynes and Hewko played one match each. Haynes earned a tough straight-set victory over Northern Arizona’s Thomas Fisher 7-6 (6), 6-4.
Hewko won the first set of his match versus Arizona’s Will Adikkson only to fall in a third-set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (12-10).
Both Haynes and Hewko will have one more match on Sunday before they return to Boise.
