Continued Success at Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Columbia men's tennis team continued its strong start to the Fall 2012 season. At the conclusion of play on day two, the Lions advanced players into the finals of all six flights.

In the marquee matchup of day two, Columbia's Winston Lin, the No. 95 ranked player in the nation captured a 6-2, 6-4 victory over No. 38 Vasko Mladenov from St. John's. Lin will take on Matija Pecotic from Princeton in the Tiger Draw final.

Ashok Narayana advanced to Sunday's final in the Cordish Draw with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Damien David from Buffalo. Narayana will meet Penn Sate's Matt Barry in the finals.

Eric Rubin needed three sets in his semifinal match, but he will also be competing for the title in the Jadwin Draw. Rubin topped Valentin Mihai from St. John's, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, to move onto the finals where he will challenge Yale's Jason Brown.

In the Lenz Draw, Bert Vancura will be going up against Blaine Willenborg from Penn in the finals after easing past St. John's Mike Lampa, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinal round.

Hugo Morth from St. John's will serve as Max Schnur's Nassau Draw finals opponent. Schnur defeated Sylvester Wee from Penn, 6-2, 6-1, in the semifinals.

Similar to Rubin, Daniel Morgan used three sets in his semifinal match, but was successful in beating Cornell's Brett Cromwell, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to reach the finals. Michael Katz from Princeton will take on Morgan for the Pagoda Draw title.

The final rounds of each draw will take place Sunday morning at the Lenz Tennis Center.
