David Sheaffer took on Penn State Abington's Women's Tennis Program in January of 2009, for their inaugural season. Previously, the program had a co-ed team in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference. With only four women on that team, the first order of business was to build a program. Ten players are playing on the team in 2009.
Previously, Sheaffer coached a very successful Upper Dublin High School tennis program. His combined win loss record for the boys and girls teams over seven seasons equaled 75 – 12, and his teams captured their Division Championship four times.
Sheaffer was the Men’s Tennis Team Captain at Messiah College, and as a Junior player on the school’s first Middle Atlantic Conference Championship Team. A native to the Philadelphia region, Sheaffer was a three Varsity letter winner in tennis at Haddon Township High School, and made All South Jersey Doubles his Junior year.
