Head coach Adam Steinberg was named the ITA Southwest Region Coach of the Year for the second time in his 10-year tenure at Pepperdine. Steinberg has led the Waves to a 25-6 record this season, including a program-record 22 match win streak that began on February 19 with a 4-2 win over Tennessee.

Overall, Steinberg boasts a record of 219-72 (.753) at Pepperdine and 329-251 (.685) overall in his 20 seasons of coaching.

Steinberg was previously named ITA Regional Coach of the Year during the 2006 campaign, when the Waves would go on to win their first NCAA Championship title. Steinberg was later honored as the ITA National Coach of the Year.

Jason Cook, in his first year on the sidelines in Malibu, was named the ITA Southwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, becoming the third different assistant coach at Pepperdine to reap the award. Cook was previously an assistant coach at the University of Miami, and worked as a player development coach for the U.S. Tennis Association.

Former assistant coaches who have also won the award include Per Nilsson (2005) and Nick Carless (2009).

Junior Sebastian Fanselow (Essen, Germany/Kaplan College Prep) was dubbed the ITA Southwest Region Player to Watch. Fanselow, who was named the 2010 ITA West Region Rookie of the Year as a freshman, has been collecting several awards as the season nears an end. The now junior is the reigning West Coast Conference Player of the Year, and has secured ITA All-American honors in singles by virtue of earning the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship.

To be eligible for the Player to Watch award, a student-athlete must have been ranked in the top-20 of the ITA singles rankings during some point in the season. Fanselow began the year listed at #21 and spent the latter half of the season ranked in the top-10. He currently sits at a career-best ranking of #8.

All regional award winners are automatically eligible for the national award in their respective categories, which will be announced on May 22 during the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga.

The Waves, after posting a pair of wins over Green Bay and Washington over the weekend, continue the 2012 NCAA Tournament this Friday, May 18, when they face off with #20 Tulsa (20-8) at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Pepperdine won the regular-season meeting with the Golden Hurricane, 4-3.
