Patric Hynes is in his second season as head coach of the Presbyterian College men’s tennis program.
Last year, he led the Blue Hose to a 13-9 overall record, the 2005 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament title, a runner-up finish in the SAC regular season standings (5-1), and earned a bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. The postseason bid was the program’s ninth since 1996.
Hynes came to Presbyterian College from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C. where he spent the previous season as head men’s and women’s tennis coach.
In 2004, Hynes led the men’s team to an 18-4 overall record and a second place finish in the Carolinas-Virginia Conference regular season while the women’s team compiled a 17-4 mark and also finished second in the CVAC. Both Lees-McRae tennis teams also excelled in the classroom as they earned ITA Academic All-American honors.
Hynes spent three seasons including the 2002-03 season as an assistant coach at Lees-McRae before taking over head coach prior to this past season. Hynes is no stranger to the Banner Elk campus as he graduated cum laude from the institution in 2000 with a degree in business administration. He was also a four-year letterwinner with the Bobcats and earned CVAC Freshman of the Year (1995-96), All-CVAC, and ITA Academic honors during his career.
Hynes is a native of Melbourne, Australia and is married to the former Judi Ball from Summerville, S.C.
