Jessyca Arthur has two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in psychology and one in kinesiology, from the College of William and Mary. She also holds a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Sport Psychology, from Boston University. Arthur currently works full-time in the Purchase College Counseling Center and provides sport psychology services to the athletic department. She joins Purchase men’s tennis after completing assistant coaching duties for Purchase women’s tennis team in the fall of 2007.
Arthur brings a wealth of NCAA Division I coaching and playing experience to the Panthers. She served as the assistant women’s tennis coach at Boston University (’02 -‘06) while she completed her graduate degrees. Arthur helped lead the Boston University women’s team to an America East Conference Championship title and an appearance in the NCAA Div. I team tournament in each of her coaching seasons.
Arthur played collegiate tennis at the College of William and Mary (’98 –‘02) where she finished her career playing at the #1 position in both singles and doubles. In her senior season, she earned a NCAA Div. I singles ranking of #64, a doubles ranking of #22, and qualified for the individual NCAA tournament. During her career, Arthur led her team to three Colonial Athletic Association Conference titles and three NCAA Div. I team tournament appearances. In 2002, she was named the recipient of the Arthur Ashe National Sportsmanship and Leadership Award and was named Senior Female Athlete of the Year at William and Mary. Following her collegiate career, Arthur played on the professional tennis circuit, where she garnered a world singles ranking and competed in several major WTA tournaments
