 Reggie Sanderson

 

Reggie Sanderson was hired as head women's tennis coach at SJC in March of 2005. In July of the same year, he assumed control of the men's program as well. In five seasons under Sanderson the women's team has gone 40-39, qualifying for the Great Lake Valley Conference tournament in the 2006-07 season. In four seasons, Sanderson has guided the SJC men's team to a record of 28-45 and two appearances in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Lady Pumas finished 14-12 in the 2008-09 season, the most wins since 1997. 

Sanderson has been the Head Professional at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Ind. since 2000. He directs USTA sanction tournament events at Sand Creek on on the SJC campus throughout the year as well.

Sanderson spent 13 years coaching high school tennis in Northern Indiana (1992-2004), including Chesterton, Hammond Morton, Michigan City, Munster and Andrean High Schools. He has coached several players who have advanced to the national junior and collegiate level. He has also been a internationally certified tennis professional by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) since 1993. He was a USTA ranked junior player in the Pacific Northwest section, ranking in the top 50 in 1987. He has numerous USTA tournament titles and is currently ranked in the top 10 in Men's Open singles in the Northern Indiana USTA district. He is a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Assocation (ITA) and is a licensed USTA and ITA Tennis Official.


Sanderson graduated from the National Tennis Academy in Waxahachie, Tex., in 1992 with a professional tennis-teaching certificate, and is a 1996 graduate of Penn Foster College with a degree in Business Mangament. He resides in Wheatfield IN. with wife Aimee, daughters Katee and Molly, and son Luke.
