Tim Crosby is the dean of coaches at Saint Leo and the Sunshine State Conference. He is in his third decade of service in the Athletic Department as long time coach of the tennis teams.
He begins his 39th year as the men's coach and the 37th year as the women's coach in the 2008-09 season. In 2008, he helped the Saint Leo women's tennis team reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The Lions also reached their highest-ever national ranking at 29th, and had their first two SSC Players of the Week in program history.
Crosby has established a reputation for recruiting quality student-athletes, who excel in the classroom. Several of his players have received numerous academic awards and the majority of team members are named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll each year.
One of his most recent players, Stephanie Harris, was a member of the Conference and NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Board and was student representative on the Saint Leo University Board of Trustees.
Five former players (three men and two women) qualified for the NCAA Tennis Championships in the 1980's. Crosby was inducted into the Saint Leo Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990 for his achievements as a tennis coach and for his outstanding play as a baseball player at Saint Leo. He was a member of the first Saint Leo College graduating class in 1967 where he received his bachelor's degree in physical education.
Prior to transferring to Saint Leo, Crosby was at St. Petersburg Junior College where he graduated in 1965. Crosby was an All-America baseball player in junior college. Crosby received his master's degree in health, physical education & recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1972.
Crosby, who also served as an assistant baseball coach, is currently an associate professor of Physical Education at Saint Leo and serves on the SLU Alumni/Reunion committee.
He is married to the former Maria Mora, a 1969 graduate of Saint Leo. The couple has three children.
