 Giac Tran

Giac Tran will enter his third season as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis program, officially beginning his duties on September 15, 2006.

 

A formerly ranked Top Ten junior tennis player in Maryland , Tran graduated from Chopticon High School in Morganza, MD in 1994 as the No. 1 singles player and achieved All-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference First Team, All-St. Mary’s County, and The Washington Post All-Metro Honorable Mention (1993-94) honors. He was also awarded the Louis Benson Memorial Tennis Award.

 

Tran continued his tennis pursuits at High Point University in North Carolina in both singles and doubles as the school was ranked 10th in Division II. He graduated from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in 1998 to finish his tennis collegiate career.

 

Tran previously served as the assistant tennis coach at Chopticon for three years before being an assistant coach at Patuxent High School during the 2005-06 year. He is currently a teaching professional and has run local tennis programs for the Breton Bay Country Club, Calvert County/St. Mary’s County Parks and Recreation, and the Calvert County Tennis Association where he has served as the Vice President and delegate to the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

He continues to compete in USTA events and is the holder of thirty championships titles in both singles and doubles.
