 J.J. Whitlinger
Volunteer Asst Coach
Stanford University
J.J. Whitlinger, son of men's tennis head coach John Whitlinger, will enter his eighth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Stanford program.

Whitlinger is currently an assistant pro at Fremont Hills Country Club in Palo Alto.

A 2005 graduate of Saint Mary's with a bachelor's degree in politics, Whitlinger was a four-year letterwinner and tabbed an All-WCC doubles player during his career. He was also named team captain during his senior season and voted the team's Most Inspirational Player as a sophomore and junior.

J.J., which stands for John, Jr., attended Menlo-Atherton High School. Whitlinger was a four-time first-team All-Pacific Athletic League selection, two time league champion (singles as a senior and doubles as a freshman), four-time team MVP and three-year team captain. He also led his team to the Central Coast Section championships on two occasions. As a senior, Whitlinger earned all-conference honors in football as a wide receiver and return specialist and was named his high school's Male Athlete of the Year.

The Whitlingers have played together as a father-son doubles team and were ranked as high as No. 3 in the country a few years ago.

Whitlinger and his wife, Katrina, were married in May 2009. The couple has a son, Trey.
