The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team fell, 4-3, to Harvard in front of a boisterous crowd at the Lott Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
The Quakers (13-6, 1-3 Ivy) opened the match by dropping the doubles point. The team of David Lynn and Mikhail Bekker fell to Jonathan Chu and Jordan Bohnen of Harvard, 8-3, in the first position. Tas Tobias and Anthony Pu fell to Brandon Chiu and Ashwin Kumar, 8-3, at No. 2 and Brandon O’Gara and Todd Lecher fell to Gideon Valkin and Scott Denenberg, 8-6, in the third position.
In singles action, Bekker fell in the No. 1 position, 6-1, 6-3, to Chu. Lynn defeated Kumar in a tight match at No. 2, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2. Tobias fell to Dan Nguyen, 6-2, 6-1, in the third position and Lecher won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-2, over Chiu. Jimmy Fairbanks defeated Shantanu Dhaka, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 ret. in the fifth position and at No. 6, Joe Lok fell to Valkin, 6-2, 4-6, 5-4, to close out the match.
The Quakers are next in action on Saturday, April 16 when they host Dartmouth on the Lott Tennis Courts at noon.
