ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Looking to avenge a loss to #32 Minnesota earlier this month, the Hoosiers came out fired up and didn’t let down. The team took the doubles point and then won singles matches at one, five and six to claim the victory, 4-1. Next up for IU is a semifinal matchup with the Fighting Illini. The Hoosiers will play Illinois at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday.

#103 Lachlan Ferguson continued his hot streak with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 win over #58 Ishay Hadash. The win is Ferguson’s sixth of the year over a ranked foe and his sixth consecutive win at number one singles. Ferguson also helped win the doubles point. He and freshman Stephen Vogl won at number two doubles by an 8-3 tally.

Vogl won at number six singles to raise the IU lead to 3-0. He took down Michael Sicora 6-3, 6-4. Minnesota refused to go down without a fight though. The Gophers got a win from Dino Bilankov at number three to move the score to 3-1.

Freshman Will Kendall shut down any momentum on the part of the Gophers with his win at number five. Kendall beat Julian Dehn 6-4, 7-6. He took the second set in a tiebreaker that ended with a 7-2 score.

IU closed out the doubles point with a win by senior Peter Antons and freshman Maxime Armengaud. The duo put down Dehn and Sicora by an 8-4 tally.

The win moves the Hoosiers on to face Illinois for a berth in the final. The Hoosiers will look to avenge another loss, as the Illini won the matchup earlier this season. For complete coverage of IU men’s tennis stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
