WIMBLEDON, England – Ole Miss NCAA Champion Devin Britton, who announced his decision to turn pro on Wednesday, has advanced to the semifinals at Wimbledon Juniors, coming back to beat fellow American, Alexander Domijan in three sets on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
After losing the opening set in a tiebreaker, 7-6(2), Britton, the youngest NCAA Champion ever, won the second and third sets 6-3, 6-4 respectively. The United States is guaranteed of having a finalist, as Britton will face his doubles partner, Jordan Cox, in the semifinals Friday. Cox beat the No. 4 seed from Argentina in three sets to advance.
Following their quarterfinals singles matches, Britton and Cox teamed up to reach the quarterfinals in doubles, taking out the Croatian team of Marin Draganja and Dino Marcan 6-3, 7-6(10).
Britton, a native of Jackson, Miss., will be trying to make his second junior grand slam final, as he reached the U.S. Open Junior Final in 2008.
