ATHENS-----The fall tournament season for the University of Georgia wraps up this week with Chelsey Gullickson competing in Connecticut and Cameron Ellis and Naoko Ueshima heading to California.

Gullickson will be the number three seed at the ITA National Indoor Championships starting Thursday in New Haven, Conn. Yale University will play host to this year’s event from November 5-8 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships are the second of three national tournaments during the collegiate tennis season. The NCAA Tennis Championships, held in Athens in May, marks the final national event.

Gullickson, a sophomore who is ranked No. 2 nationally, owns a 6-2 record this fall. She was a finalist at the first national tournament, the Riviera All-American Championships held last month in Pacific Palisades, California. Gullickson’s strong showing at this event earned her a spot in the elite field of 32 at the ITA National Indoors.

Former Bulldog All-American Agata Cioroch captured two straight ITA National Indoor titles (2002-03) while three other Georgia standouts have been finalists: Marissa Catlin (1999), Angela Lettiere (1994) and Shannan McCarthy (1991).

Ellis and Ueshima will compete in the Duals in the Desert event Nov. 6-8 in Palm Springs, Calif. They are 2-3 in doubles this fall while Ellis is 4-5 in singles and Ueshima is 1-5. The tournament features singles and doubles draws with student-athletes from schools such as UCLA, USC, Northwestern and Georgia Tech. Assistant coach Frank Polito will travel with Gullickson to the ITA tournament while head coach Jeff Wallace will be with Ellis and Ueshima.
