LSU WOMEN’S TENNIS TEAM COMPLETES DAY 1 OF HARVARD INVITATIONAL

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The LSU women’s tennis team completed day one of the Harvard Invitational hosted by Harvard at the Beren Tennis Center in Cambridge, Mass.
The Lady Tigers had strong performances from all three women participating in the first day's action. Sophomore Whitney Wolf was superb in blanking Julie Flanzer of Brown University 6-0, 6-0. Kaitlin Burns also won her match with a strong effort against Cate Stewart of Brown 6-3, 6-3. Senior Nicole Kantor took both sets to the wire against Christine Ordway of Cornell but came up just short, 7-5, 7-6(5). Ebie Wilson and Sloane Mathis were also winners defeating opponents by the scores of 7-5, 6-3 and 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 respectively. Kylie Adamek fell to Sarah O'Neal of Cornell 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles play, the Lady Tigers participated in three matches winning two of them. The team of Wolf/Kantor defeated the Harvard team of Tachibana/Lehman and the LSU team of Burns/Wilson (LSU) defeated Cornell's Sanchez/Lim. LSU's Adamek/Mathis fell to
Cornell's Ordway andSeyburn.
“We played really well today. I was pleased with how well the girls adapted to the environment," said head coach Tony Minnis. “We’re looking forward to tomorrow.”
The Lady Tigers will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 7. Doubles play begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. cst followed by singles at 11 a.m. cst.
