PALM SPRINGS, CALIF.-----University of Georgia junior Cameron Ellis picked up two more wins in singles and one in doubles Saturday at the Duals in the Desert event.
Ellis notched a pair of wins in singles and one in doubles with senior Naoko Ueshima. Ellis dispatched Linda Abu Mushrefova (Northwestern) 6-4,6-2 and then beat Lyndsay Kinstler (USC) 6-3,6-1. The Ellis-Ueshima duo breezed past the Texas tandem of Abby Liu and Carlene Leyden, winning 8-2. At the round-robin tournament, Ellis is 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.
Ueshima went 1-1 in singles Saturday. She defeated Kinstler 7-5,6-1 and then fell to Mushrefova 6-4,6-3.
“Cameron is really playing great tennis out here in both singles and doubles,” said Georgia coach Jeff Wallace. “It’s good to see her and Naoko playing solid doubles too.”
Action at the tournament concludes Sunday with one round of singles.
