College Tennis News - Ellis eliminated from consolation draw at ITA National Intercollegiate Indoors

UT freshman’s run ends in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Texas freshman Aeriel Ellis’ run through the singles consolation draw came to an end with a three-set defeat in the quarterfinals Saturday at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.

Ellis took the first set off of Florida State’s Noemie Scharle, 6-4 but dropped the ensuing two sets, 6-3, 6-4 and was eliminated from the event.

In other action, the Longhorns tacked on four singles wins Saturday at the Duals in the Desert in Palm Springs, Calif. Junior Abby Liu knocked off Northwestern’s Stacey Lee, 7-6, 7-5, and took the first set off of UCLA’s Nina Pantic, 6-4 before Pantic defaulted the second set to Liu.

Senior Sarah Lancaster added a 6-4, 6-4 win over UCLA’s Pamela Montez, and sophomore Krista Damico notched a 6-3, 6-2 win over USC’s Alison Ramos.
