Sophomore Cierra Gaytan-Leach and freshman Noel Scott tally a pair of doubles wins in season opener.
CARY, N.C. – Texas notched three doubles wins, including a pair from sophomore Cierra Gaytan-Leach and freshman Noel Scott, on day one of the Duke Invitational, the Longhorns’ fall tournament opener.
Gaytan-Leach and Scott posted an 8-4 win over North Carolina’s Zoe DeBruycker and Lauren McHale before handing Miami’s Anna Bartenstein and Gabriela Mejia an 8-3 defeat.
Senior Krista Damico and junior Aeriel Ellis added an 8-3 win over the Tar Heels’ Haley Hemm and Tessa Lyons.
The Longhorns are set to complete their opening-round singles matches Friday afternoon.
