       Los Angeles, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis season opened up today with two wins and a loss in singles play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) West Regionals.  Unseeded C.J. Adamson split a pair of matches for the Seasiders while fifth-seeded Zevhan Zakharov won his only match of the day.

            Adamson scored a 7-6, 6-2 win over Max Dutreix of UC San Diego but lost his second match of the day by a score of 5-7, 6-1, 10-5 to fourth-seeded Ahmed Saleem of Grand Canyon.  Zakharov received a bye in the first round and defeated Jason Wall of UC San Diego 6-3, 6-4 in the second round.

            Zakharov will continue play tomorrow in the winner’s bracket while Adamson will play in the consolation bracket.  The two will pair up to open doubles play tomorrow as well.
