LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech climbed three spots to No. 17 in this week’s women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings, marking the highest honor ever earned by the Lady Raiders.

Texas Tech began the year ranked No. 48, its highest preseason ranking in school history. In nine polls since, the Lady Raiders have climbed 31 spots to No. 17. This week also marks the third consecutive week Texas Tech has appeared in the Top 25.

Sophomore Rashmi Teltumbde climbed into the ITA Top 100 singles players for the first time in her career. She went 3-0, including a win over No. 47 Sona Novakova of Baylor. Teltumbde is 10-4 on the season and 9-3 in dual matches.

The doubles tandem of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo climbed 17 spots in the ranks to No. 30. The duo is 17-6 on the season and just upended the No. 1 doubles team in the nation – Kristy Frilling and Shannon Mathews of Notre Dame. The tandem is 5-3 against ranked opponents.

Texas Tech returns to action on March 23 in Manhattan, Kan., against Kansas State.
