COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M men's tennis team, ranked No. 22 in the country, will renew an old rivalry against the SMU Mustangs in a 1 p.m. dual match set for Sunday, Mar. 25 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

"SMU has always been a traditional tennis power and we are very pleased that the Mustangs are coming to Aggieland this weekend," Aggie head coach Steve Denton said. "This is our last opportunity to compete before the Big 12 season begins. We have had a good week of practice and are looking forward to getting out on the courts to compete again. "

The Aggies are 9-8 on the season and have faced eight teams that are currently ranked in the nation's Top 25 including matches against Top 10 foes such as No. 1 USC, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Virginia and No. 7 Kentucky.

The Mustangs are 7-6 on the year heading into a 1 p.m. Friday (Mar. 23) match against Tulane in New Orleans.

The last time these two clubs met was a first round match in the 2008 NCAA Championships hosted by Baylor. The Aggies came away with a 4-1 victory.

SMU leads the all-time series with A&M, 15-to-14, and the teams faced each other in the 1996 NCAA playoffs with SMU pulling out a 4-3 decision.

Texas A&M senior co-captain Alexis Klegou, from Dunkerque, France, is ranked No. 27 in singles and the Aggies have two doubles teams that are currently ranked. Senior co-captain Colin Hoover, from Victoria, Texas, and senior John Lewis, from Birmingham, Alabama, are ranked No. 41 in doubles. The young duo of redshirt freshman Jackson Withrow, from Omaha, Nebraska, and sophomore Junior Ore, from Gaithersburg, Maryland, are ranked No. 22 in the land.

Texas A&M students wearing their Big Event T-shirt or showing any proof that they participated in the Big Event, will get in free.

After Sunday's match, the Aggies open Big 12 regular season play by hosting Oklahoma State next Friday, Mar. 30.
