ATHENS, GA. – Georgia Tech senior Jillian O’Neill fell 6-7(2), 6-3, 4-6 to Tennessee’s Brynn Boren in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

O’Neill, ranked No. 11, finishes her season with a 30-14 singles record and her two-year Georgia Tech career with a 54-29 singles mark. O’Neill will pair up with Tech sophomore Alex Anghelescu in the NCAA Doubles Championship which begins Thursday in Athens. The Yellow Jacket side, ranked No. 23, will face UCLA’s sixth-ranked pair of Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton in the first round.

Boren, ranked No. 32, will face Baylor’s 23rd-ranked Nina Secerbegovico in the second round Thursday.

“I think Jillian has had a great couple of years with us,” head coach Bryan Shelton said. “I saw her progress from a player that was a little unsure of herself, lacking in some confidence, to become one of the better players in the nation. She certainly has the talent to compete with anyone out here. I’m sad it came to an end today, but proud of all the effort and the improvements she has made along the way. Georgia Tech is a better program and a better place because of Jillian.”
