LOS ANGELES - The Intercollegiate Tennis Associate (ITA) released its preseason singles and doubles rankings this week and several Bruin players were near the top of the pack.
Five UCLA players are ranked in singles on the women's side, led by sophomore Robin Anderson at No. 3. She is followed by No. 40 Pamela Montez, No. 70 Skylar Morton, No. 79 Kaitlin Ray and No. 86 Chanelle Van Nguyen. In addition, UCLA is the only school in the country with two doubles teams ranked in the top 10, as Courtney Dolehide and Montez check in at No. 2, followed by Anderson and Morton at No. 4.
In the Freshman/Newcomer rankings, incoming freshman Kyle McPhillips is ranked No. 3.
On the men's side, junior Adrien Puget is the team's highest singles player at No. 27. Also earning singles rankings are No. 29 Clay Thompson, No. 33 Marcos Giron and No. 54 Dennis Novikov, who recently reached the second round of both singles and doubles at the U.S. Open.
The men have one doubles team ranked, with Alex Brigham and Puget beginning the fall at No. 7 nationally.
