New York, N.Y. – After recording a three-set victory in the first round of the doubles main draw at the 2012 US Open, Michael Redlicki and doubles partner Dennis Novikov of UCLA fell in the second round Saturday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The duo was defeated by the No. 12 seed Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo, 6-1, 7-5.

Redlicki and Novikov advanced to the second round after defeating Americans Bobby Reynolds and Michael Russell, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7), in the opening round.

Redlicki, who hails from Chicago, Ill., earned a bid to the US Open doubles main draw as a wild card, after he and Novikov captured the USTA Boys 18 National Championship earlier this month in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Redlicki is rated No. 5 overall in the Tennis RPI rankings and No. 8 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net. Earlier this summer, he teamed with Duke rising sophomore Jason Tahir to take the doubles crown at the USA F18 Futures tournament in Pittsburgh. Redlicki has also previously captured titles at the USTA National Clay Court Championship and the USTA National Open Hard Court Championships during the summer of 2011, as well as at the Midwest Junior Indoor Championships in February 2011.

The Blue Devils will open their fall season with the Duke Fab Four Invitational in Cary, N.C., from Sept. 14-16.
