Lopez 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 to secure a crucial point for the visitors and ensure
they are still in the hunt for a spot in November's final.
The match lasted three hours 38 minutes and means the Bryans have
extended their match winning streak against the Spanish pair to 3-1.
The Bryans have had an incredible year - they have taken six titles, including
the Olympic gold medal in London and the US Open only last week. In New
York they overtook the Woodies long-standing record for number of Grand
Slam titles, the US Open was the Bryans 12th making them the most successful team in the Open Era.
The Bryans have always been a vital part of the US Davis Cup team, they have an incredible 20-2 record in the competition and have now won all nine rubbers contested on clay.
Defending champions, Spain, took a commanding lead on day one of their semifinal Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tie against USA after David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro won their singles rubbers against Sam Querrey and John Isner respectively.
