BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sunday’s singles play concluded the 2012 Adidas Hoosier Classic for IU women’s tennis. Indiana’s Alecia Kauss made it a perfect weekend to split the singles title in the top draw.
Kauss downed Notre Dame’s Molly O’Koniewski in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, to end the weekend at a perfect 3-0 record. She along with ND’s Britney Sanders each had unblemished records in the No. 1 flight to split the title in that round robin draw.
In the second flight, IU’s Sophie Garre defeated Kansas State’s Carlie Wischhoff, 6-3, 6-3, in the consolation finale. Shannon Murdy was also victorious in straight sets over Amina St. Hill of KSU, 6-3, 6-3, in her consolation final in flight three. Picking up the fourth win of the day for Indiana was Gabrielle Rubenstein, as she topped JoHanna Manningham of Notre Dame in the flight four consolation final, 6-3, 6-2.
