PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Alabama senior Alexa Guarachi dropped her first match but bounced back in the singles consolation draw to pick up a win on Tuesday at the 2012 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
Guarachi faced Duke’s Ester Goldfeld in the opening round match, which went in favor of Goldfeld, 6-1, 7-6(5). Guarachi rebounded quickly for her afternoon match, taking down Nebraska’s Patricia Veresova, 6-2, 6-1.
Action resumes on Wednesday with the next round of qualifying matches. The main draw will begin on Thursday.
