BOISE, Idaho – The Boise men’s tennis team completed the second day of the Boise State Fall Classic, Saturday, as the Nathan Sereke and Brian Foley saw their tournament runs come to an end in the final match of the day.
Sereke defeated Abid Akbar, 7-5, 6-3 to start the day before facing Alvaro Nazal of Gonzaga in the Orange Flight Singles semifinals. Sereke jumped out to a fast start by winning the first set 6-0, but saw his lead disappear over the next two sets, falling 6-3 and 6-1.
Freshman Brian Foley also won his first match of the day against Filip Fitchtel of Idaho, 6-3, 6-4. In the quarterfinals, like Sereke, Foley won the opening set against Paxton Deuel before dropping two straight to lose 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
Broncos and former Broncos will still be in action tomorrow though. The team of Andy Bettles and Sereke will face an alumni team of Clancy Shields and Thomas Schoeck at 12:30 p.m., at the Appleton Tennis Center.
