MANSFIELD, Texas - Both Marko Krickovic and Mate Zsiga opened with victories for the Baylor men's tennis team on Saturday at the USTA Pro Circuit's Futures of Mansfield event at the Walnut Creek Country Club.

The pair got first round victories in the 64-man singles qualifying draw to now sit only two wins away from the main draw. Zsiga swept past Adam Cranford, 6-2, 6-2, while Krickovic downed Sam Swank 6-1, 6-0. On the season, Zsiga is 8-1 and Krickovic is 6-2.

On Sunday, Zsiga will face 12th-seeded Tyler Hochwalt and Krickovic will take on second-seeded Bjorn Fratangelo.

Baylor's other qualifying participant, Robert Verzaal, lost his first round match to Carlos Di Laura, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. The junior falls to 3-3 on the year.
