LAS VEGAS - The Boise State men's tennis team started the Mountain Regional Championships with a victory in both the singles and doubles brackets, Wednesday.
Freshman Brian Foley was the only singles player from Boise State not to receive a first-round bye but he advanced anyway with a 7-6, 6-4 win against Andrew Warren of Montana. Foley will face the No. 25 seed, Marc Westgate of New Mexico State in the round of 64, tomorrow.
Foley and Scott Sears partnered up to compete in the opening round of doubles action where they handled Kenny Dodd/Prithiv Sivasubramaniam (Montana State) 8-1. The pair will be challenged tomorrow when they face the No. 1 seed from Denver.
Andrew Bettles, Filipp Pogostkin, Scott Sears and Nathan Sereke will each play their first singles matches, Thursday.
