WACO, Texas – Texas qualified two doubles pairs for the quarterfinals and added an upset win over a top-50 singles opponent Sunday on day three of the ITA Texas Regional Championships at Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center.

Senior Aeriel Ellis and sophomore Noel Scott produced an 8-3 doubles win over Lamar’s Carolina Maso and Alicia Porte in the round of 16. Ellis and Scott will take on Texas Tech’s Nikki Sanders and Rashmi Teltumbde in the quarterfinals Monday at 9 a.m.

Junior Elizabeth Begley and sophomore Lina Padegimaite produced a 9-7 win over North Texas’ Dane’ Joubert and Ilona Serchenko in the round of 16. Begley and Padegimaite will face off against Baylor’s Ema Burgic and Jordaan Sanford in the quarterfinals Monday at 9 a.m.

Scott notched a key singles victory before being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the singles draw. Scott opened the day by upsetting Texas A&M’s 46th-ranked Sun Wen by a 6-4, 6-3 count in the singles round of 16. Scott fell to the Aggies’ fourth-ranked Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar by a 6-4, 6-2 count later on in the quarterfinals. TCU’s 56th-ranked Stefanie Tan eliminated UT’s 20th-ranked Ellis from the singles draw.

Sophomore Annat Rabinovich added a 6-2, 6-3 win over UTEP’s Dariya Abdrakhmanova in the round of 16 in the singles consolation draw. Rabinovich will face UT Arlington’s Brooke Dennis on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
