STANFORD, Calif. - California claimed three of four semifinal berths in singles and in doubles on Sunday at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Sunday at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Golden Bears won three out of four quarterfinal matches against Stanford players.

Tenth-seeded and 31st-ranked senior Tayler Davis upset third-seeded and 16th-ranked Stacey Tan, 6-4, 6-4; fourth-seeded and 22nd-ranked junior Anett Schutting knocked off eighth-seeded and 47th-ranked Ellen Tsay, 6-3, 6-3; and 12th-seeded freshman Klara Fabikova - the ITA's second-ranked freshman/newcomer - beat 13th-seeded Kristie Ahn, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

Sophomore Zsofi Susanyi - the fifth-ranked, second-seeded All-American - suffered Cal's lone quarterfinal loss, falling to fifth-seeded Krista Hardebeck - the ITA's top-ranked freshman/newcomer of 2012 - 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

In the semifinals, Schutting plays Fabikova and - in another Cal-Stanford clash - Davis takes on Hardebeck at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Susanyi fared better in doubles, pairing with Schutting as the tournament's second-seeded team and beating fifth-seeded Jenny Jullien-Audrey Leitz of Saint Mary's, 8-2. Cal had four doubles teams playing in the quarters, as the fourth-seeded duo of Fabikova and freshman Lynn Chi beat sophomore teammates Cecilia Estlander and Laura Posylkin in a tight match, 9-7. The sixth-seeded doubles team of David and senior Annie Goransson defeated Danielle Flores-Jade Frampton of Saint Mary's, 8-3.
