LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Dennis Novikov won two singles matches and one doubles match on Friday, keeping the Bruins in contention for a title at the 56th Southern California Intercollegiate Championships at UCLA's Los Angeles Tennis Center.

He then moved into the quarterfinals by downing San Diego's Victor Pugliese, 6-4, 6-2. Novikov, who is seeded No. 2, next faces USC's Michael Grant on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
