COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the first round of the 2012 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Ohio State redshirt junior Peter Kobelt suffered a three-set loss to Jonas Lutjen of Mississippi. The tournament, which includes a 32-player singles draw, is being held at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Kobelt, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, won the first set 6-3 before Lutjen evened the match with a 6-2 second-set victory. In the third set, Lutjen prevailed in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (1) to advance to the second round.

The ITA National Indoors wrapped up the Buckeyes’ fall schedule. Kobelt and the rest of the Ohio State men’s tennis team begin its spring season Jan. 16 with a home doubleheader vs. Butler at noon and Xavier at 6 p.m. at the Varsity Indoor Tennis Center.
