CORAL GABLES, Fla. - University of Miami head women's tennis coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews has officially released the 2013 spring tennis schedule. Sixteen of the Canes' 22 matches will come against opponents that ended the 2012 campaign in the national rankings, and 14 will take place at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

Of the 16 ranked opponents on Miami's schedule, 10 ended last season among the Top 25 and three among the Top 10. In addition to having one of the deepest conference schedules in the nation, UM will face at least 10 ranked non-conference foes.

"I strongly believe that we have one of the toughest schedules in the country," Yaroshuk-Tews said.  "The only way to improve is to constantly get tested in pressure situations and that's what this schedule is set to do."

To kick off the season, the Canes travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on FAU on Jan. 11. The next match begins a six-match homestand at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center, as Miami hosts No. 21 Illinois on Jan. 13. The Miami Spring Invite, held Jan.18-20, includes No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 10 Texas and No. 28 Vanderbilt.

No. 54 Hawaii, 27th-ranked Arizona State and No. 46 Oklahoma roll into town for the 2013 ITA National Indoor Kick-Off Jan. 25 and Jan 26. Miami closes out its month-long homestand with a matchup against UNF on Feb. 3.

If the Hurricanes win both matchups during ITA Kick-Off Weekend, they will qualify for a trip to Charlottesville, Va., and the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships beginning Feb. 8. If not, the homestand continues as conference rivals No. 40 Florida State and 25th-ranked Clemson visit on Feb. 23 and March 3, respectively.

The Canes then spend two weekends away, taking on No. 20 Georgia Tech in Atlanta, on March 9 before traveling to Texas to face No. 10 Texas in Austin on March 22 and 13th-ranked Baylor in Waco on March 23.

The Hurricanes return home to face No. 64 Brown (March 27), NC State (March 28) and Wake Forest (March 30). Maryland (April 5) and Boston College (April 7) come to Coral Gables before Miami heads north to Virginia, closing out the season at Virginia Tech on April 20 and at No. 15 Virginia on April 21.

"We are ready to begin practice Saturday and start another incredible journey with eight amazing women," Yaroshuk-Tews said.  With proper guidance, this journey will reap all its rewards in Champaign-Urbana in May."

Postseason will begin April 25 with the first round of the ACC Championships in Cary, N.C. The season will come to a conclusion May22-27 with the NCAA Team and Individual Championships in Urbana, Ill.
