Boise, Idaho – The Boise State men’s tennis team will open its 2013 spring season with a doubleheader against Montana and conference opponent, Air Force, Saturday. Both matches will take place at the Boas Tennis Center starting with Montana at 10 a.m., followed by Air Force at 6 p.m.

In the Rankings - The Broncos were picked 38th in the first Campbell’s/ITA National Team Rankings, the highest of any Mountain West team.
Junior Andy Bettles is currently ranked the 28th-best singles player in the nation after a 7-3 fall season and will look to lead the Broncos this spring. Bettles is ranked third in the Mountain Region while teammate Nathan Sereke sits 11th.
Scouting Montana – The Grizzlies went 16-5 last season with an 8-0 record in conference play. One of the team’s five losses came at the hands of Boise State, which defeated Montana 7-0. Senior Andrew Warren led the team in the fall with an 11-4 record.
Scouting Air Force – The Falcons compiled an 11-13 record in 2012 and made a first-round exit in the Mountain West tournament with a 4-0 loss to New Mexico. Senior Lance Wilhelm is the Academy’s top player, ranked sixth in the Mountain Region singles rankings along with eighth in doubles, pairing with Grant Taylor.
No Place Like Home – Boise State owns a 19-match home win streak after going a perfect 19-0 at home last season. The last Bronco loss in Boise came during the WAC Championships in 2011 by a 4-3 defeat against Fresno State.
About the Broncos – Boise State enters the season as defending Mountain West Champions, going a perfect 7-0 against conference opponents in 2012. This year’s team is led by a pair of juniors, Andy Bettles and Nathan Sereke who will man the top two spots for Boise State while seniors Filipp Pogostkin and Scott Sears will give the Broncos strength in the middle of the lineup. Three new faces to the roster will fight to fill out the order as Patton welcomes freshmen Brian Foley, Toby Mitchell and Thomas Tenreiro to the squad.
