TULSA, Okla. --No. 25 Washington men's tennis (1-0) hits the road this weekend for a pair of matches against highly ranked teams. The Dawgs will face No. 17 Tulsa (0-0) on Friday, Jan. 18, 3 p.m. and No. 23 Texas (1-0), on Saturday, January 19, at noon.
 
Washington is off to a quick start to the spring season, defeating Gonzaga 7-0 in the opener. Kyle McMorrowled the Dawgs, winning at No. 1 singles for his 78th career win at Washington. The senior is now tied for 10th on the all-time Husky win list.
 
The Dawgs got strong play throughout its lineup against the Bulldogs with Viktor Farkas plauing at No. 2 singles, Emmett Egger at No. 3 and Max Manthou at No. 4. Nicholas Kamisar and Jeff Hawkecompleted the Husky team with all six winning in straight sets.
 
In doubles, Manthou and Egger won at No. 1, while Farkas and McMorrow clinched the doubles point playing at No. 2. Freshman Hudson Barhart played at No. 3 doubles and made his UW debut teamed with Hawke.
 
The Dawgs will first get a good Tulsa team on its home court on Friday. The Golden Hurricane has a pair of top-100 singles players in Japie De Klerk and Alejandro Espejo. DeKlerk is ranked No. 34 and Espejo No. 69 to lead Tulsa who was a NCAA Sweet 16 team a year ago.
 
Saturday, Washington will face Texas in Tulsa in a neutral-site matchup of top-25 teams. The Longhorns are coming off a 5-2 win over SMU in its opener. Last season, Texas advanced to the NCAA Championships, but was upset by Santa Clara in the first round. The Longhorns have three players ranked in the top-100, led by No. 31 ranked Soren Hess-Olesen. Daniel Whitehead (No. 43) and Nick Naumann (No. 98) are also ranked players for Texas.
 
Following the road trip to Tulsa, Washington will return home for a long stretch of home matches. The Dawgs host both Pepperdine and Portland next week, but have five home duals before hosting the ITA National Team Indoors from February 15-18. Wednesday's matchup against No. 7 Pepperdine will be at 3 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
